The Lidl supermarket planning proposal, for a large unit on the A380 adjacent to the Great Parks, contravenes the Paignton Neighbourhood Plan. It will draw even more business away from Paignton's already struggling Town Centre while adding more traffic to the congested Kings Ash Hill area. Lidl's efforts would be much more beneficial to the local community if they made large scale proposals for the development of sites in Paignton Town Centre such as Victoria Square or Crossways. Such action would help the local community with desirable redevelopment solutions rather than adding new problems.

I don’t feel one way or the other about this application. My only comment, which applies to all out of town supermarkets; why do they have to use such vast swathes of additional land to provide sufficient car parking for their customers.? They ought to build the store on top of the carpark, thus using less land and at the same time providing cover in inclement weather for their customers loading shopping into their cars.

I think this is a terrible place for a supermarket. The access would be detrimental to public safety. We have a row of supermarkets from paignton to Brixham within easy reach, one of which is Lidl! This is totally unacceptable or necessary.
The whole idea being proposed is an unnecessary destruction of the countryside.
