The picture below is better than the usual feel-good artist's impression. In this image (taken from the railway crossing, with the blue library just visible above the black car), the existing victorian buildings hve been replaced with a visualisation of a residential block.
The arguments for this are basically two-fold:
1. As visitors walk out from the railway station they are greeted with a very poor impression of Paignton.
2. We need more residential dewllings in the town centre.
We understand that the existing Victorian buildings are still privately owned and in a very poor state of repair.
Surely we have to get rid of betting shops in prime town centre locations?
